The number of interactive museums has been steadily growing. During the COVID-19 years of 2020 and 2021, many museums began creating 3D tours of museums so that people who were stuck inside had an opportunity to enjoy.
The next evolution of that has been the creation of VR museum experiences. Steam, a popular digital distribution platform for video games, provides a growing variety of VR museum experiences.

Institutions such as the London Museum of Water & Steam have created a walkthrough with interactive exhibits that patrons can play with as they explore. The virtual tour is available for free.
Independant VR hobbyists and developers have created exhibits as well. These two images from PALEO Museum VR allows patrons to view 1:1 models of popular dinosaurs. Additionally, there are statistics, descriptions, and other information so users can learn about the featured dinosaurs. This is also available for free on Steam.
